NINE teenagers now have interim anti-social behaviour orders as the authorities seek to put a halt to disruption in Walcot.

Last month eight orders were handed out to a group of youths giving them strict conditions not to associate with one another – but fell short of imposing curfews.

Reports from businesses in the area of Sussex Square and Marlowe Avenue suggest the orders have been very successful, with no breaches seen during the last month.

Yesterday, Swindon Borough Council brought similar interim anti-social behaviour orders against Ryan Hammond and Shaun Kingsman.

Kingsman, 18, of Somerville Road, did not attend as he is currently a serving prisoner in HMP Bullingdon, and the case against him was adjourned.

Seventeen-year-old Hammond, of Malmesbury Gardens, accepted his order, which will run until April.

An application for a full anti-social behaviour order against each of the 10 teenagers will be heard on April 14.

Frances Maples, prosecuting for Swindon Borough Council, told Swindon magistrates court that for the sake of continuity, the same conditions were being asked for.

“There was some debate about a curfew at the previous hearing,” she said.

“Ryan Hammond is completely linked up with the defendants before the court on February 10, so we will not be seeking a curfew in this instance “There is a tenth person, Mr Kingsman, who is in custody and will not be able to be here. That application has been re-dated so that all the cases can tie together.”

Sam Arif, defending Hammond, conceded the order.

“We are content with the order as it stands,” she said. “We are a little bit tied up as all of these are part and parcel of the same ball.”

Chair of the bench, Mr Jones, warned Hammond not to breach the order in the coming weeks.

“Following allegations made that between 30 October 2014 and 3 February 2015, you have acted in Swindon in an anti-social manner that has caused or is likely to cause distress to persons not of the same household as yourself, an ASBO is necessary to protect the relevant persons,” he said.

“You are now prohibited from being with any of the named persons in any street or public place within the area of Walcot or entering or being in the Marlowe Avenue shops area as shown on a map.

“You are also prohibited from entering or being in Sussex Square or the surrounding area, or being in any street or public place within the area of Walcot in a group of four or more persons behaving in a manner likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

“You should not be shouting or swearing or acting in a threatening or abusive manner in the area of Walcot as shown on a map.

“That order will last until 15 April 2015, and the full application will be heard on 14 April at 2pm.”

Hammond will now be banned from associating with Leon Thompson, 17, of Drakes Way, Calvin Coupe, 16, of Bouverie Avenue, Jay Lucas, 16, of Darnley Close, Connor Moran, 17, of Lennox Drive, Jamie Skilton, 16, of Queens Drive, Stephen Spelman, 18, of Edale Moor, Daniel Thomas, 17, of Frobisher Drive, and Spencer Thompson, 15, of Shrewsbury Road, within Walcot.
