FOR the first time, South Swindon MP Robert Buckland introduced a hearing loop to his surgery on Friday as part of a major campaign to help those with hearing difficulties.
The MP used the equipment which meant it was easier for those who had hearing issues to understand what was being said.
It meant his voice was amplified and so was clearer for anyone using a hearing aid.
He said: “I wanted to play my part in promoting this excellent initiative.
“I often speak with people at my surgeries who have hearing difficulties and a hearing loop can mean a considerable improvement for them.”
The move was part of Let’s Loop Swindon, a new initiative which seeks to increase the quality of life for those with hearing problems.
Robert said: “The company Contacta have kindly provided the unit as part of the Let’s Loop Swindon campaign.
“This is a really welcome initiative which is seeing loops being provided in many public places.
“What I want to see now is to see more being used across the town.”
