PEOPLE usually use it to offload furniture, get rid of baby clothes or find a cheap car, but a father looking for love has found a new use for a popular Swindon Facebook group.

Bachelor David Seal advertised himself on popular group Swindon, For Sale, Free or Wanted, which boasts 60,000 members.

The divorced father-of-two from Redhouse was soon inundated with responses to his ad. So far, there have been two lucky ladies who have been in touch to take things further as a result of the post.

The 37-year-old of Redhouse said: “I thought I’ve got nothing to lose and it’s a bit of light-hearted fun. I’d been on dating websites before but thought I’d give this a go as so many people see it.

“I could hear my iPad and my phone going off constantly – it was crazy.

“I couldn’t believe it. When I posted it, it got something like 107 likes, and over 50 comments. The response was really positive, even from guys, saying ‘good on you’.”

He was inspired to look for love after his eight year-marriage ended earlier this year. He decided to follow the growing trend of internet dating using E-Harmony, Match and Plenty of Fish before his Facebook post.

David’s two sons, aged seven and five, are also keen for their dad to meet someone special.

“My kids ask when I’m going to get a girlfriend and it would be nice to find someone with kids a similar age,” he said.

David said that his ideal woman would have a good sense of humour, be of similar age and have children of her own.

“It’s not really about the looks, it’s about the personality,” he said.

“They have to have a sense of humour and be intelligent – it’s important to be able to have a laugh with them. A nice smile is good too.

“I’m a big stickler for time keeping so they need to be punctual too.”

David’s dates will be treated to a laid-back chat with him. He says an ideal first meet-up would be over coffee.

And a certain Friend with an iconic haircut has already caught his eye.

“My dream woman would be Jennifer Aniston,” he said.

“She’s always been beautiful and looks fantastic for her age.

“She seems like a really good person too.”
