A YOUNG woman was taken to hospital this morning after her car overturned in a rush hour incident near Winterbourne Monkton.

The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries after dragging herself from her blue Renault Clio following the incident off the brow of a hill on the A4361.

South West Ambulance Service and Wiltshire Police attended the incident shortly after 7.30am on the Swindon side of the Berwick Bassett double bend.

The driver was checked over at Great Western Hospital and the road was blocked from just before 9am to and 9.14am when the car was removed.

A spokesman for South West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.34am to the A4361 and a one-car road traffic collision.

“It has left the road and ended up on its roof. There is one female casualty, who is 22-years-old. She managed to get herself out of the car, which is good news.

“She has gone into Great Western Hospital to be checked over, but it’s just minor injuries.”

A police spokeswoman said: “Wiltshire Police were called to the A4361 at Winterbourne Monkton near Avebury at 7.34am this morning.

“There were reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle (Renault Clio) which had flipped on to its roof after coming over the brow."

“The female driver suffered minor injuries.

“The road was blocked for a short period while the vehicle was recovered.”

A number of passers-by stopped to assist the driver after the crash during the rush hour mishap.
