Do you cook a lot yourself? What is your failsafe dish?

Pasta is my failsafe dish because it’s quick and easy. But I do love making bean burritos too. I love Mexican food, which could have something to do with the fact that I lived in New Mexico for eight years.

Where do you like to eat out? How often?

I enjoy going to local cafés. There are so many to choose from, like Harris & Hoole, Baila Coffee and Vinyl, and Balula’s in Old Town. I don’t really eat out all that often. And I rarely go to fast food restaurants. I go to McDonald’s once in a blue moon, but that’s normally just for a McFlurry on a hot day.

What do you always hope to find on a menu? For starter? Main course? Dessert?

First, I always look for the ‘V’ for vegetarian symbols. Aside from being a vegetarian, I’m not all that fussy. Some people like to stick to what they know, but I’m happy to try out new dishes.

Which foods did you hate as a child? Do you eat them now?

I despised olives as a child, but now I love them, especially on a pizza or in a salad. My least favourite food was, and still is, sauerkraut.

What is your favourite drink? Alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

My favourite drink is chocolate milk. The best chocolate milk I ever had was in a New York hotel when I was eight. I’ve yet to find a worthy match. My favourite alcoholic drink is Kir Royale, but I really only ever have it on special occasions.

Marmite: yes or no?

Yes!

What is your guilty pleasure when it comes to food... something you know you shouldn’t eat, but do anyway?

I recently discovered dulce de leche: a rich, creamy caramel sauce. I could eat it straight out the jar. I’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, which is probably way I wrote doughnuts into Please Mr Panda.

You are on your own at home watching a film. What is you snack of choice?

Popcorn.

You’re eating a bacon sandwich...ketchup, brown sauce or nothing at all?

I don’t eat bacon sandwiches, but if I did, I’d add brown sauce.
