THAMESDOWN Transport have confirmed they are happy with a proposed diversion route as part of plans for the Thames Avenue works.

The company has also said during the closure, they would be able to run buses part way down Thames Avenue using Avonmead and Hamble Road to turn them around in order to maintain the best service they can for their passengers.

When the second section of resurfacing alongside the shops and the Shield and Dagger is being done, Thamesdown Transport said that the buses will also be able to use Avonmead and Hamble Road as their diversion past the works.

Councillor David Renard said “We have been campaigning for a while to get these stretches of Thames Avenue resurfaced and are delighted it is now happening. There will be inconvenience while the work goes on but we ask residents to be patient and we will all see the benefit once it’s completed.”
