TWO taxi drivers were among three people attacked in a series of incidents in Glasgow over the weekend.

A private hire driver was dragged from his vehicle by a couple in Drumoyne, Govan.

The 60-year-old had picked them up from Linthaugh Road, Pollok, around 2am yesterday and was then attacked as he dropped them off in Kincraig Street.

The male passenger assaulted the driver with a blunt instrument and then dragged him from the vehicle. The man and woman also stole more than £100 in cash.

The driver suffered injuries and was treated at the nearby Southern General Hospital.

Another private hire driver was also seriously assaulted after confronting a man who threw a brick at his car.

The 64-year-old was driving in King's Park Avenue, near Castlemilk Road in the South Side, shortly after midnight on Saturday when he was stopped by a man standing in the road. He then hurled a brick at the car.

When the driver got out of his vehicle another man suddenly appeared and the driver was attacked by the person who had thrown the brick.

The taxi driver was taken to Glasgow Victoria Infirmary and allowed home after treatment.

Both of the thugs then ran along an underpass leading to Castlemilk Road. The main suspect was described as 5ft 10in, aged 15-21, of medium build, pale complexion, with dark brown shaven hair.

Police investigating another assault are treating an attack on a man in Scotstoun as attempted murder.

The 47-year-old was walking in the area around 5.15pm on Friday when he was approached by up to three men and seriously assaulted.

The victim was taken to the Western Infirmary suffering head injuries. His condition is described as "critical".
