CHILDREN at Nythe Primary School are constantly reminded to work together with the mission statement being “Achieving More, Together”.

All 166 pupils – aged between four and 11 – are members of four different houses named after planets in the solar system including Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Neptune.

Younger children are supported by older pupils in the school who take responsibility for different aspects of day-to-day life around the school.

This may be preparing PE equipment for staff or helping to look after younger children at playtime.

On the school’s website, headteacher Debbie Kalynka said: “Nythe Primary School is a small and inviting school with seven classes.

“It has a real ‘family feel’, where the staff are dedicated to providing a stimulating, exciting environment where everyone feels valued and safe, ideas can flourish and pupils can realise their full potential.

“By providing a well-structured and engaging curriculum, and by promoting good behaviour through our Golden Rules, we aim to enthuse in all children a love of learning as well as respect and care for each other.

“Whatever the needs of your child we aim to ensure they thrive at Nythe Primary School – feeling safe, having fun and enjoying success.

“We want our pupils’ time in our school to be memorable, build on what they know and can do and help them become lifelong learners.

“We value highly the partnership between home and school and encourage all parents to take an active part in the education of their children.

“The partnership between school staff, parents, governors and other stakeholders is an essential one.

“Children are at the heart of all we do and their social and emotional well-being, as well as their academic achievements, are very important.”
