POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist suffered a punctured lung in a collision in Wroughton.

Just before 2pm a 45-year-old male motorcyclist was riding along the B4005, Wharf Road, towards Wroughton, when he lost control of his bike on a right hand bend, went through a chevron board, narrowly missing a tree, before somersaulting and coming to rest on a soft verge.

No other motorists were involved in the collision.

The motorcyclist suffered a punctured lung and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital, Bristol, by Wiltshire Air Ambulance where his condition is described as serious.

PC George Rabczak, of the Roads Policing Unit, is investigating the incident and would like to hear from anybody who witnessed the collision, or saw the motorcyclist prior to this, to contact him immediately.
