A TALE of two choirs is showcased at a special concert in aid of Parkinson’s UK Awareness Week.
Swindon Male Voice Choir welcomes A Splash Of Red, a ladies choir from Fairford, to their spring concert.
The fundraising concert will have a mix of music from both choirs and the money will go to the Swindon branch of Parkinson’s UK.
Gordie Smith, concert secretary from the Swindon Male Voice Choir, said: “Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition, the cause of which remains a mystery.
“There are many people who suffer this condition, all affected in slightly different ways. Part of Parkinson’s Awareness week is the aim to raise funds nationally to support further research to identify causes and to assist treatment, and also more locally to gather interest and support for over 370 Support Groups all over the UK.
“The groups are run by volunteers who usually have experience of Parkinson’s and are supported by local professionals.’’
The Bath Road Methodist Church in Old Town is playing host to the concert on Saturday, April 25 from 7.30pm and tickets are £6 from choir members or from 01793 822494. — FLICKY HARRISON
