FIREFIGHTERS were called to a flat block in Penhill this morning.
Three crews attended the incident, at Upavon Court, at around 11.20am after reports of smoke coming from a fourth-floor flat.
Firefighters forced entry to the apartment and found the problem had been caused by a pan being left on a hot cooker hob.
Nobody was in the premises with an ambulance being called as a precaution.
Watch manager Paul Keenan said: “As this is a flat block, we put in our pre-determined procedures, to prepare for something major.
"Thankfully, this wasn’t the case and the incident acted as a good training exercise for us.”
The incident didn’t need the block’s residents to be evacuated although some did choose to leave their homes.
The incident drew a lot of attention from the public with onlookers watching the emergency service’s progress.
