THE latest royal arrival was not the only little princess to be born on Saturday, with a total of 11 children delivered at Great Western Hospital.

Six babies were delivered in the maternity unit and another five in the birth centre on the day, with at least two little girls uttering their first cries within hours of the princess’ birth.

The royal baby, who is fourth in line to the throne, was born at 8.34am at the private Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, west London, just hours after Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, was admitted at around 6am on Saturday.

The tot weighed in at 8lbs 3oz and Kensington Palace announced that both mother and child were doing well.

The number of births at the GWH in Marlborough Road made for a productive day on Saturday, with speculation from busy midwives the children knew it was a special day.

Little Florence Evelyn Wheatley beat the royal princess by just minutes, being born at 8.16am, after mum Simone went through a two-hour labour.

The 38-year-old, of Watchfield, who has two older daughters aged four and three, said she was delighted Florence shared a birthday with her royal peer.

“I think it’s exciting because I didn’t think it would happen, and it’s something that will make her stand out when she gets a bit older,” she said.

“It’s just something extra special she can celebrate on her birthday, having the same birthday as a real princess. It’s something very few people will be able to say.

“She’s my own little princess too.”

Doting parents Jenna and Craig Bainbridge, of Rodbourne, also welcomed another little girl to their family at 7.31am when their third daughter was born.

“I was very excited when I heard Kate was pregnant because it was the same time I found out I was pregnant too, so I knew they would be born at around the same time,” said Jenna.

“I was very excited when they had George, I watched it all over the news, so it’s very special that she’s been born on the same day.

“I was about nine days overdue too, and I think they were saying they thought Kate was overdue as well.

“I think it’s extra special because Kate and Will are just so normal, I think that’s what people like about them.”

All the babies also share a birthday with popular celebrities and famous faces including ex-England footballer David Beckham and singers Lily Allen and Engelbert Humperdinck.

Fashion designer Donatella Versace, cricketer Brian Lara, Poirot star David Suchet, horticulturist Alan Titchmarch, inventor Sir James Dyson and snooker star Jimmy White were also born on that day.

While it may be some days before the new princess’s name is announced, Alice, Charlotte, Victoria and Elizabeth are among the bookmakers’ favourites.
