A WOMAN is appealing to trace two holidaymakers after finding their camera down the back of a charity shop sofa.

Lara Cooper, 41, of Park North, discovered the silver Canon digital camera in a blue leather sofa she purchased at Whitbourne Avenue’s Restore shop.

“I was playing with my three kittens when I dropped one of their toys down the sofa. I put my hand down the back and just found this camera. My son thought I was joking at first,” she said.

When Lara scrolled through the photos to identify the owner she found it contained images of two women on a sunshine break.

I believe they may be on a cruise - the weather looks lovely and sunny so I think they’re on holiday together,” she said.

“These are someone’s memories and I have to make sure I can give them back. It looks like the women in the photos are very close. I’d be devastated if I lost photos so I feel it’s my duty to make sure they get back into the right hands.

“It’s an expensive camera and I’m worried that the person it belongs to is frantically searching their house for it. It’s so sad they have lost this.”

Lara has shared the photos on several town Facebook groups, but with limited success, and the camera remains unclaimed.

“I contacted Restore and a few Facebook groups to try to raise some awareness but I need to make sure the right people see it,” she said.

Lara said she will hang onto the camera to ensure it gets back into the safe hands of its owner and is appealing for the public to help reunite the camera with the two ladies.

“I’m not letting the camera go until I’ve made sure the owner gets it back.

“It’s people’s memories and they’re special. Looking at the photos made me determined to make sure they’re reunited with the person who will treasure them.”
