SILVER medal winning Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies visited David Lloyd gym yesterday to offer her support to the charity SportsAid, which helps young sports people overcome the financial challenges they face to become a success.

The athletes are typically aged 12 to 18 and are among the country’s brightest hopes for future Olympic and Paralympic success.

The SportsAid support they receive is funded by the charity’s partners, donors and fundraisers.

A spokesman for David Lloyd in Swindon said: “Sharron is a member of the club and has also supported our Swim Allstars programme since 2014.

"Swim All Stars at David Lloyd Leisure follows the high standard of the Amateur Swimming Association and all of our children’s courses follow the Amateur Swimming Association National Plan for Teaching Swimming which is a world recognised programme for teaching children to swim.

“These awards help aspiring athletes to train harder and compete more effectively so they can progress up to the senior and international level of their sport.

“Many who have received this backing have gone on to compete at the Olympics and Paralympics.”
