ONE especially lucky, lifelong Swindon Town supporter will have a pitch-side view of Sunday’s Wembley clash – and he won’t even be paying for the privilege.

Harrison Painter will be cheering on his beloved Town all the way from the sidelines in its League One play-off final.

But no, he has not discovered a special Wembley ticket that all of the thousands of fans missed – for he will be strutting his stuff at the club mascot, Rockin’ Robin.

Ever since the players bundled onto him in his debut at home to Bristol City this season, Harrison, 18, has been living his own dream as the club’s supporter-in-chief.

And He said that while fulfilling the role of mascot was not something he foresaw when planning his career, he would be delighted to be close to the action at Wembley this weekend.

“It’s going to be an honour to be there and also just to be there representing the club because that’s what I do,” he said.

“It’s something I didn’t think I would do. It does put a smile on your face and does give you butterflies.”

The Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust coach, of Wigmore Avenue in Lawn, took on the job this season after predecessor Josh Lambdon moved to London for a new job.

Harrison attended his first Town match at four-months-old, but in his 18 years as a supporter never expected to ever be the Robin who might walk out with his idols.

“It’s nice because you’re behind the scenes and you’re famous in your own right,” he said. “If you talk to people and ask them, they think Robin is their favourite person out of everyone.”

Of his Wembley nerves, he said: “It’s finally kicked in at the start of this week. After last Monday it didn’t really kick in, but as soon as we got to the week of the game it builds up.

“The nights are starting to get a little bit sleepless and I’m getting a little bit nervous.”

Harrison will be expected to turn up at Wembley before 3pm, where he will be taken behind the scenes to his own changing room to get ready before heading out into the stadium.

It’s his job to get the supporters revved-up before the match and even mingle with a few of them outside before kick-off.

He still hopes Sky Sports will not block his request to walk out with the players on the day.

“I have gone on the tour, but this will be completely different. I’m hopefully expecting to see some of the players and get a chat with them,” he said.

“I’m positive on the whole. I’m very rarely positive with Swindon Town, but I think we can get a result out of the game.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what our end is going to look like.”
