A red sea of supporters enveloped the County Ground today, as loyal Swindon Town fans climbed aboard 14 coaches bound for the Wembley play-off final.

More than 500 fans donned Robins match kit, jester hats, hoodies emblazoned with the logos, scarves, face-paint and all in one red lycra bodysuits to show their support ahead of tonight's clash.

The rhythmic notes of UB40s ’Can’t Help Falling In Love With you’ was heard across the waiting crowds as town fans geared up for one of the biggest matches in the club’s history.

Lifelong town fan Kevin Lynch from Haydon Wick, who entertained the waiting crowds by bursting into song as he boarded his coach, said he believes Swindon can go all the way.

He said: “Ben Gladwin is going to be the star of the match. I think it will be 2-1 to us with Gladwin getting both goals. We’re going up, we’re going up.”

On the day of Swindon's league one play-off final against bookies favourite Preston North End, anticipation and excitement was widespread across Robins’ supporters.

Bradley Marvell, from Gorse Hill, who wore a red second skin suit complete with jesters hat was hoping to appear on TV.

“I wore this to get on Sky Sports. It’s going to be amazing to finally be there. I know the boys will do us proud and we should have it in the bag if we keep our composure,” he said

Town football enthusiasts remain adamant that Town can pull off a stunning victory but the team are waiting on the fitness of captain Nathan Thompson, midfielder John Swift and striker Andy Williams.Defender Harry Toffolo could be back after missing both legs of the semi-final win over Sheffield United.

The league one play-off final kicks off this evening at 5.30pm on Sky Bet.
