DEVELOPING the whole child is at the heart of the curriculum of Catherine Wayte School.
The Abbey Meads establishment aims to nurture youngsters’ abilities in a variety of ways, from tailored classes to holistic activities.
Headteacher Emma Brown said: “We are a popular and successful school located in North Swindon.

Catherine Wayte Primary School opened on 6th September 2000 and provides education for pupils aged 4-11 years. We are a popular and successful school which serves the North Swindon community. We have two classes in each year group. The teaching team work with support staff and governors, in partnership with parents, to provide the best possible education for our pupils.

“The school is named after the daughter of the owner of Manor Farm and the land on which the school is built. She was concerned that local children were not being educated and sought to provide schooling for children from the parishes of Blunsdon St. Andrew and Rodbourne Cheney. She established a school in Haydon Wick in 1806 to provide basic education for local boys and girls.

“At Catherine Wayte Primary School we aim to provide a variety of appropriate teaching and learning opportunities, create a learning environment in which pupils and staff are encouraged to achieve their full potential, encourage self-discipline, independence and respect for others, provide pupils and staff with opportunities to build self-confidence and increase self-esteem in order to experience success and achievement., and provide a range of resources appropriate to age, ability and curriculum requirements, create an environment where partnerships with parents and the wider community are encouraged and developed.”

The school also aims to develop an attractive environment for pupils which encourages their curiosity and to help children develop across every aspect of their life, spiritually, socially, physically, and mentally.
The school also places enormous value on cherishing the uniqueness of each pupil.
