A TEENAGE girl who used her mobile phone to video a 16-year-old friend being robbed and assaulted has been spared jail.

The vulnerable victim had turned to Victoria Little for help after falling out with another girl who had been threatening her on Facebook.

Rather than help her, the 18-year-old filmed her humiliation at the hands of her group of friends and encouraged the other girls to assault her.

And when the young victim, who has mild learning difficulties, tried to get away she grabbed her by the hair and threatened to drag her back.

But after hearing she had spent five-and-a-half weeks in custody on remand a judge imposed community order so she could get help from the probation service.

Tessa Hingston, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court how the victim contacted Little on Thursday April 16 to ask for her help over the threats.

But when the 16-year-old called her mobile a young man, who she knew had a reputation for trouble, answered and told her to meet them in Faringdon Park.

Miss Hingston said when the victim got there Little, who was on a referral order for ABH, was with the teenage boy and the two girls who she had fallen out with online.

The male confronted the 16-year-old and said 'Give me a fag or I'll burn you', and held up a lit cigarette to her neck.

He then went through her pockets and took some tobacco and her mobile saying 'You don't own that anymore, it's mine', and handing it to Little who returned it to him.

"The group were all very much there and being aggressive to her," Miss Hingston said.

The group then humiliated her, she said, by him telling her to kneel while the girl told her to stand up, "They were belittling her and humiliating her," Miss Hingston said.

When she tried to get away Little went after her, grabbed her by the hair, and said 'Get up or I'll pull you back to the park by your hair'.

Miss Hingston said "All of this was recorded by Victoria Little on her mobile phone. Police downloaded the footage and watched it.

"It is described in some detail, Victoria Little can be heard. Her voice be heard continually encouraging another girl to 'cuff' and 'bang' her.

"At one point she offers the other girl a cigarette to punch the victim, she even says she will pay her if she hits her.

"The officer who watched it called it controlling and completely unpleasant. The male belittling her, telling her she is not worth anything. The officer said the victim is passive throughout."

Little, formerly of Baileys Farm Gardens, Walcot, but now of Oldlands Walk, Park South, pleaded guilty to two counts of common assault and not guilty to robbery.

The more serious charge was not proceeded with as prosecutors said there was no evidence she took part in the robbery.

Rob Ross, defending, said "It is one of those videos that is more worrying than nasty. It is worrying because the girl is clearly scared stiff.

"She has clenched fists not to fight but because she is scared. There is a number of people around her. The bulk of the incident comes from the male."

As a result of the incident he said Little had served the equivalent to a sentence of two-and-a-half months.

Passing sentence Judge Peter Blair QC said "Appearing before the crown court is, I hope, a shot across your bows in the sense that your loss of temper and your lack of self control is something which is possibly getting more serious and needs to be really got to grips with."

He imposed a community order with a four week night time curfew and supervision so she can get help for her problems.
