LEGENDARY rocker Alice Cooper has announced a show in Swindon.

The goth rocker, famed for hits such as School’s Out, Poison and Elected, will be at the Oasis centre on Friday, October 30.

Cooper will bring the latest of his theatrical live shows to town ahead of a UK tour supporting fellow Us rockers Motley Crue on their final tour.

And fans can expect an array of snakes, fake blood and more at the show.

A spokesman for Alice Cooper said: “Alice Cooper is a true rock icon, having pioneered the use of theatrics and shocking images onstage in concerts from the earliest days of the original band of the same name.”

The shows will mark 40 years since Cooper brought his Welcome To My Nightmare show to the UK in 1975.

He was inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2011, and the new show will be based on his latest album, Welcome 2 My Nightmare, plus his classic songs.

Cooper, real name Vincent Furnier, will be performing in Swindon for the first time since 2009, when he brought his Theatre of Death tour to the town.

And he said he was more keen on playing venues like the Oasis, rather than arenas.

He said: “I always prefer to play theatres because it makes the theatrics of our show so much more intense.”

The spokesman said the current line-up of Cooper’s band meant fans were in for a treat.

“Currently, Alice’s touring band features the three-guitar attack of Nita Strauss, Tommy Henriksen and Ryan Roxie, backed by bassist Chuck Garric and drummer Glen Sobel,” he said.

The date will finish a strong string of shows at the Oasis, with comedian Jimmy Carr performing on Friday, September 25, followed by UB40 on Friday, October 16, before Will Young is in town on Wednesday, November 25.

Tickets go on sale, priced £37.50, on Friday morning.
