Stylist Shan Williams is back to complete her A – Z lesson in looking good
I hope you enjoyed lesson one last week in all things fashion for Summer 2015. Welcome back where we are returning to class this week to complete my A – Z of fashion timetable.
N Navy – this season’s fashion staple or neutral that goes with everything. Invest in trousers and skirts to mix and match with your colourful fashion buys.
O Open-front skirts – from mini, to midi, to maxi – the split skirt is the one to wear. Totally impractical but when has fashion been practical?
P Pattern – florals blossom in a mixed bouquet with a far eastern twist. Wear as separates or pair together for high-impact dressing.
Q Quintessentially British – Q was always a tough one to think of a word for at school – so I’m going with championing Quintessentially British design and manufacture. Marks and Spencer best of British collection is in its second year – check it out.
R Rucksack – no longer for walking up mountains, the rucksack is the alternative to the traditional handbag. Choose leather in a structured shape for a smart grown-up look.
S Swimsuit – unless you have a figure to die for, then a show stopper swimsuit is for you. Spend as much as you can afford and buy one in your best colour to look cool by the pool.
T Tassels – or fringes, embrace the bohemian trend with tassels on your jacket, skirt or bag. Check out the suede trend too, it’s well worth the slightly higher price tag.
U Undergarments – commonly known as bra and knickers. 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size – make this the summer you get measured professionally.
V VPL – what you wear under your clothes is as important as the clothes themselves. Make sure your knicker lines doesn’t show in those fabulous new trousers.
W Waistcoat – so many coats and jackets are ‘armless’ this summer. If you don’t like your arms wear one over a long sleeve top or dress.
X X-tra special – we all owe it to ourselves to feel x-tra special, treat yourself - you deserve it.
Y Yellow – not the easiest colour to wear, but everywhere in the shops. Ensure you have a warm skin tone to look good in this sunshine colour.
Z Zandra Rhodes – got you there didn’t I? Were you thinking what will she say about Z? A style inspiration for years Zandra Rhodes vibrant kaftans look as great on the beach and they do with jeans.
Class dismissed!
