A FREE talk will highlight the dangers faced by business in the growing world of cyber crime.

With the chances of a cyber attack on the increase, businesses can’t afford not to take precautions – that will be the message at the seminar being staged in Swindon this month.

Julie Donkin, of insurance broker Ashley Page, will deliver a presentation at the free event on Wednesday, July 15, hosted by Ermin Street-based Banks BHG chartered accountants.

“There are more than 1,000 cyber attacks per hour and rising, which is a massive threat to all UK businesses, some of which have ceased trading due to hacking, malware, phishing scams and operational error due to the cost and lack of technical resource,” said Julie, who is with Ashley Page’s cyber and tech insurance division.

“Initially regarded as an ancillary product, cyber insurance has become a necessity. With the ever-changing environment due to increasing use of technology, new exposures arise for all businesses and it is imperative to ensure that there is an understanding of the risk.”

Julie’s talk will cover the risks, which include hacking, data breach, viruses, employee sabotage and network downtime.

She said: “The costs of a cyber attack are far-reaching, as there is a loss of income and expenses incurred.”

The event starts at 5.45pm, and is followed by a light buffet. To book a place log on to www.banksbhg.com or email claire.hunt@banksbhg.com
