VISITORS to the Big Lunch at Savernake Street Social Hall on Sunday are being urged to bring along donations to the Swindon Foodbank.

The lunch will take place from noon to 5pm and visitors can bring along sweet biscuits, long-life fruit juice, small bags of sugar, jars of coffee, long-life cows milk and tinned fruit.

A Swindon Foodbank spokesman said: “The food parcels that we provide contain a nutritionally balanced mix of 18 different types of food and due to the generosity of the people of Swindon we have good stocks of the main items.

“However there are a few lines that we have far less stock of. So if you are considering donating food please could you choose from these items.

“We have a number of drop-off points throughout the town and if you have a particularly large amount to give please message or call us to arrange getting it to our warehouse.”

Attendance to the event will be free due to funding received from the Mid-Counties Co-op.

At 1pm there will be unveiling of the Little Free Library, which has been funded by Swindon Borough Council.

While the event is taking place Savernake Street will be closed to traffic.
