POP STAR Maureen Nolan, of the Nolan Sisters, will today officially open an Old Town singing school she became patron of last year.
Everybody Sing, which is based in Belmont Crescent, will welcome the singer to celebrate her patronage and the school’s current success.
Sophie Haynes, principal of Everybody Sing, which opened last year, has always been a fan of the star and was overwhelmed when she agreed to become patron.
She said: “Maureen is a most experienced singer and actress with a love for musical theatre. She is an amazing person who is keen to be involved with the school.”
Maureen has said that she does not wish to be a patron in name only and will use her life experiences to support the school by attending concerts and prizegivings. She has also said she will undertake workshops.
“Maureen is such an inspirational person,” said Sophie.
“Her talents give hope to every student at Everybody Sing who may wish to pursue a career in music. Having her as our patron will inspire students to reach their full potential.”
Maureen, who has recently been on tour in the musical Blood Brothers, said: “I am delighted to be a patron of Everybody Sing. It would be a pleasure to be a part of the school and I am looking forward to meeting the students.”
