CHILDREN at a primary school for children with social, emotional and mental health needs have worked to create a bird table for a sister school.
Pupils Nyland School in Nythe spent woodwork classes developing a bird table for the Zouch Academy, a sister school which is also part of the White Horse Federation based in Tidworth, near Salisbury.
The youngsters made the table after visitors from the Academy visited the school and expressed interest in their own bird table.
Becky O'Brien, headteacher at Nyland, said: "The staff and students at Zouch were very impressed with the bird table that Nyland students had made for their values garden. So impressed that they decided one would look very nice on an old tree stump they have on their school field.
"Mr Pickering then asked the students at Nyland if they would make one for Zouch Primary School.
"The students all worked extremely hard on the project, showing lots of patience and co-operation, which is all part of our values based learning. The students added some twigs in order to make it a little more attractive to wild birds.
"All the children agreed it was a very satisfying project and that the bird table was going to be of great use."
