THERE was something for readers of every kind on Saturday when the Core in Old Town hosted its first book-swapping event.

From children’s literature to autobiographies, hundreds of books were available for anyone who was looking for something new to add to their collection.

Rosie Wareham, 29, of Old Town, hosted the swap and said she is hoping it will become a quarterly event.

She said: “I had loads of books and I thought rather than get rid of them I’d see if anyone else wanted them.

“Hopefully this is a way which can bring the community together.

“There have been lots of people coming taking a look at the books here and saying they’ll bring some of their own next time.

“We’ve got all kinds of books so there is bound to be something for everyone. A lot of them have been donated by the library so there is good support here.

“There has been a really good response with people taking an interest so hopefully next time will be bigger, especially in time for Christmas.”

Anyone who did not have a book to swap was able to take one from the collection by donating £1 to Marie Curie Cancer Care.
