EXOTIC creatures have pirouetted their way into Longleat promising to give the zoo’s wild animals a run for their money in the thrills stakes.

The Sichuan Chunmiao Acrobatic Troupe has landed at the park with a high-flying show Za Ji, which means acrobatics in Mandarin.

Combining China’s heritage, folklore and legendary myths with gravity-defying stunts, Za Ji showcases the amazing athleticism, skill and precision of the artists – both individually and as part of a team.

The troupe performs specially-choreographed 30-minute shows up to three times daily in the large marquee, close to the main square at Longleat.

“Za Ji takes that to an entirely new dimension with a troupe of unbelievably talented performers showcasing a huge range of athletic and artistic skills in a series of fun, entertaining and, frankly, awe-inspiring performances,” said Longleat chief executive Bob Montgomery.

“We’re absolutely delighted they have agreed to spend their entire season here performing for our visitors and we’re sure it will prove to be a hugely successful addition to the overall visitor experience.”

Traditional Chinese acrobatics like plate-spinning and cup-rolling are taken to an entirely new level in Za Ji, with performers completing apparently impossible live feats of strength and dexterity.

There will also be elements of wrestling and jujitsu alongside a tea ceremony which involves pouring boiling water from a great height.

The Za Ji acrobatic shows will take place until September 6.

All-in-one day tickets to Longleat are £28 for adults and £20.35 for children, when bought online. Longleat is open every day from 10am to 7pm in the summer.
