FUNDRAISERS sang their hearts out earlier this month while raising money for Parkinsons UK.

Crowds gathered at the Urban Village Resort in Shaw Ridge on July 19 to hear the concert from the U3A choir, who were raising money for the Swindon and district branch of the charity.

Parkinson’s UK Swindon & District Branch chairman Dave Logan said: "The U3A Concert was held at the Urban Village Resort (previously The DeVera). The choir who organised the event were singing in support of the Swindon & District Branch of Parkinson’s UK. The U3A Choir sang two performances, 2pm and 3.30pm. They were conducted by Sheila Harrod of the Kentwood Show Choir who also played the electric piano. The Mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett attended the first performance wearing his chain of office.

"The sun came out and shone on the performances helping to make it a fantastic event. The U3A Choir excelled themselves and gave two magnificent performances and receiver rightful recognition and applause.. The Swindon & District Branch are very grateful for the support given by the U3A Choir & Sheila Harrod. Between ticket Sales and also bucket collection and Parkinson’s merchandise sales on the day just over £1,000 was raised for the branch through the support provided by the choir."

The choir presented the cheque to Parkinsons UK at their rehearsal at The Western Community Centre today.
