FOLLOWING British success at the Tour de France, Swindon cyclists are being urged to get on their bikes for an event closer to home.
On Sunday, a Sky Ride Local event will take place, setting off from the Oasis leisure centre, in Hawksworth Way.
Getting under way at 2pm, the free ride will last around an hour and 45 minutes.
A spokesman for the event said: “A mainly flat route heading west from the Oasis Leisure Centre, up to Bruce Street railway bridges where the Western Flyer path is used.
"The route then crosses the River Ray and meanders up the Shaw Ridge at its highest point.
“Crossing over Hay Lane we descend into Lydiard Park, where secure cycle parking and refreshments can be had in the cafe.
“We retrace our route for the return, giving views that direction of the outbound leg didn’t allow us.”
All are welcome to take part and for more information visit po.st/Swindon2Aug
