TWO charities are at the centre of a collision in Old Town after a van rolled across a busy road at lunchtime and smashed through a window as shoppers looked on.
Shortly after noon, a white Ford Transit belonging to Prospect Hospice rolled from one side of Victoria Road to the other when its handbrake was not applied as a driver made a delivery.
The vehicle ran across four lanes of traffic before mounting the kerb and smashing through the front window of Debra Charity Shop.
Nobody has been injured and emergency services arrived at the scene swiftly to make the shop and pavement safe for pedestrians.
A spokeswoman for Wiltshire Police said: “We were called at 12.12pm to reports of a vehicle, which had crashed into the front of Debra Charity Shop.
“It’s a white Ford Transit and nobody is believed to have been injured.
“It is thought the van rolled back whilst the driver was making a delivery.
“Everyone in the affected shop was evacuated and no-one was injured. The driver of the van is shaken up.”
