Students and staff were celebrating record exam results at Lydiard Park Academy for the fourth year running with over 67% of pupils gaining the main benchmark measure of five A*-C grades including English and mathematics.

These results exceeded the expectation of LPA principal, Clive Zimmerman, who said: "As this was a year group who came with slightly lower primary school levels than last year's record breaking cohort, I was hoping to get close to the same figure but wasn't expecting to do even better.

“These students really deserve it as they have taken all their teachers’ advice, given lots of extra time to their studies and revised hard.

“They have made phenomenal progress during their five years with us as a result."

Two of the academy's highest performing students were Josh Drinkwater, who achieved 12 GCSEs consisting of 9A* and 3 A grades, and Kate Rayment, who achieved 13 GCSEs including three A* and eight A grades.
