THE thrill of life in the emergency services will be opened up to members of the public next month when the Emergency Services Show returns for its tenth annual call-out.

Thrill seekers will have the chance to take to the skies in a helicopter, or enjoy a white-knuckle, blue light ride in a police car or a fire engine.

The event will be held at Hullavington airfield off J17 of the M4 on Sunday, September 13.

This year celebrating its tenth event, the Emergency Services Show is being organised by a team of volunteers from Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, Wiltshire Police and the South Western Ambulance Service, among others.

Since the first Show in 2005, more than £115,000 has been donated to groups that support the work of the emergency services, and the show committee has recently become a registered charity in its own right.

Thrill seekers will able to help support the show’s charities by taking to the skies for a five minute flight in a Bell 206 B3 Jetranger costing £35, or jump in a fire engine or police car for speedy trip around the airfield’s runway for £2.50. Also at the show will be the Go Motorsport arena allowing show-goers the chance to take a passenger ride in a sports car with an experienced motorsport driver for £2.50.

There will also be police dog displays, air ambulances, cooker fire demonstrations, new and vintage emergency vehicles as well as a fun fair.

Tickets costing £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for under 16s can be bought online at www.emergencyservicesshow.com, while further details can also be found at www.facebook.com/EmergencyServicesShow .
