OLD Town will take a trip to the sunnier climes of the Far East this week with the launch of a new bar and restaurant.

Asian-inspired and themed nightspot Kavali, based in Hooper’s Place, will open its doors this Friday (AUG 28) replacing Italian-Asian eaterie, Asiana.

Kavali brings restaurant, shisha terrace and nightclub into the unit and aims to offer a different dining experience in the town.

Marketing manager Pav Hibbert said she believed the new hybrid eatery would become one of the town’s most popular nightspots.

“It's not just a restaurant, bar or club but in fact a little bit of everything and we believe Kavali will quickly become the new venue to be seen at in Swindon,” she said.

“We have put a lot of work into decorating the venue in order to create a vibrant atmosphere about the place."

Kavali’s downstairs restaurant will offer a selection of authentic Indian and Pakistani tapas known as Thali.

Customers can sample fruity flavours of tobacco on the custom-built shisha terrace before heading upstairs to the upstairs bar and dance-floor which stays open until 2am on Friday and Saturday.

Visitors can then quench their thirst with a selection of boutique beers and champagnes.

Pav said the new business would cater to everyone’s tastes.

“We've also tried to offer something a little bit different for our guests with our shisha terrace and Asian tapas,” she said.

“We have a fantastic dance floor and resident DJs for those who like to party hard but for our guests who are a little more laid back we have some relaxing booths for them to chill out at.

"The thali food menu, boutique beers such as Modelo Especial and Brooklyn Lager, new spirits like the Reyka Vodka and of course the shisha terrace all offer a fantastic experience and night out for the people of Swindon."

And Pav said the team are following in the footsteps of quirky eateries such as Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck by using gimmicks to serve food and drink. She said:

"We are embracing some quirkiness in this venture and following brand whims like Hendricks Gin, so if people want to drink a Hendricks gin and tonic poured from a tea pot into a cup and saucer then Kavali is certainly the place to be".

Kavali will open its doors to the general public tomorrow (August 28) at 6pm.
