The Honeystreet Cafe, The Old Builder's Wharf, Honeystreet, Pewsey

ON a sunny Sunday (yes I know it's hard to remember but there have been one or two this summer) a trip out to the garden of a canalside cafe seemed the perfect way to spend an afternoon.

Obviously lots of other people had the same idea and when we arrived at the pretty Honeystreet Cafe near Pewsey we thought we might struggle to find space outside.

But luckily a couple had left just as we arrived and my daughter and I managed to settle ourselves at a table on the large grassy area.

The food is all home made and prepared in a small kitchen and considering the demand the orders were taken speedily and the food appeared promptly delivered by a smiley waitress.

We both wanted to sample the cream tea but decided to have a sandwich first. There are lots of combinations to choose from and different styles of bread. The more unusual options include hot Moroccan lamb, pulled pork and chicken with chilli relish and bacon with cheese.

We then shared the cream tea which consisted of a large homemade scone - we opted for plain but there were fruit as well - served with delicious raspberry jam and clotted cream and was priced at £3.99.

The tea made from leaves, not a bag, was served in a pretty pot and came with a strainer.

I have to admit that it was so good we decided we had made a mistake by sharing and as we lingered in the sunshine we went back for seconds.
