RAIN only ease off in Wiltshire during the afternoon of the bank holiday with one or two crashes slowing traffic in places.

A three-vehicle road traffic collision involving a horse box closed the A419 northbound for more than two hours.

The crash, near Great Western Hospital at 12.25pm, involved a Mercedes Sprinter van, a horse box and a Mercedes C Class vehicle. No one is thought to have been injured in the incident.

The scene was cleared just after 2.30pm with traffic flow returning to normal shortly afterwards.

Drivers from the area heading or returning from the South West may have been be affected by a car overturning at about 9am. A lane was closed and slow traffic was reported for a time on the M4 westbound between Junction 18 for A46 Bath and Gloucestershire and Junction 19 for the M32.

First Great Western services are being affected by the third day of the strike by members of the RMT union although the company says 70% of its services are running.
