A GROUP of six men robbed a teenager as he made his way down a busy Swindon street, stealing cash and bank cards.

Police are appealing for information after the incident, which happened at around 3.45am on Sunday morning (AUG 30), in Victoria Road.

The 18-year-old man was targeted as he walked down the hill being followed by the group, police said.

He was pushed to the floor as he walked along the opposite side of the road to The Regent Hotel, and then assaulted by members of the group who stole his wallet from his pocket containing bank cards and a small amount of cash.

DC Greg Farmery, of Wiltshire Police, said: "There were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident, both walking up and down the hill, and I would like to hear from any of these people who saw the incident, or saw the group or the victim, before or after the assault.

"Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured during the incident."

Anyone with information should contact DC Farmery at Gablecross Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously if preferred.
