Son of a gangster, former Carnaby Street window-dresser, and MA in history and philosophy, Jeff Innocent delivers comedy with menaces.
The Old Town Comedy Club based at Suju in Swindon welcomes Jeff along with Andrew Burney, Harriet Dyer and Ed Gamble on Thursday, September 3.
The East Ender, he was born in Canning Town in the heart of London, chose not to follow into the family 'firm' of villains, but neither did he want to play the straight man.
Jeff is a stand-up comedian through and through, and a well respected compere.
He became a mature student in the 1980s and the knowledge acquired while taking his degrees unleashed a lethal cocktail for his comedy, particularly when mixed with his experience of life, including his time as a bouncer for a nightclub. He is a prolific writer of both sketch shows and documentaries as well as articles on environmental issues, history and music, for papers such as The Independent and The Scotsman.
Jeff is also an actor, recently appearing in the BBC period drama, Call The Midwife.
In the world of comedy he has worked alongside top names such as Sandi Toksvig and Phil Jupitus and was nominated for the 2015 Chortle Awards Best Live Club Act.
Lars Laughington will be having a laugh with Jeff and his fellow comedians from 8pm. Tickets are £6 in advance or £9 on the door. There is also a meal deal package to enjoy before the show for £10. For more details call 01793 430444. - Flicky Harrison
