JESS GLYNNE – I CRY WHEN I LAUGH
It’s been an eventful year for Jess Glynne.
Having topped the charts with Clean Bandit on Rather Be, Tinie Tempah on Not Letting Go and Route 94’s My Love, as well as her solo singles Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself and Hold My Hand, the 25-year-old Londoner had surgery on her vocal cords.
Following in the footsteps of Cheryl Fernandez-Versini by becoming the second British female solo artist to have five number one singles, she is definitely carving out a path for herself. Glynne’s debut album opens with the funky psydelic notes of Strawberry Fields, before launching into the catchy Gave Me Something.
I Cry When I Laugh is packed full of hits from Ain’t Got Far To Go, You Can Find Me and No Rights No Wrongs.
The flame-haired songstress shows her sultry side with ballads Take Me Home and the amazing Saddest Vanilla, the latter of which features Emeli Sande.
A very promising debut. 8/10 - Shereen Low
