TICKETS for the 2016 Glastonbury Festival will go on sale next month, it has been announced.

Organisers say standard weekend tickets for the festival, which is set to take place between June 22 and 26, will go on sale from 9am on Sunday, October 4.

This will follow a sale of coach and ticket packages, which will take place from 7pm on Thursday, October 1.

A spokesman for the festival said: "We’re very pleased to announce that tickets for Glastonbury Festival 2016 will go on sale at the beginning of October.

"As part of our ongoing efforts against ticket touting, anyone who would like to attend next year’s Festival will need to have registered in advance.

"Registration remains free of charge and only takes a few minutes at www.glastonburyregistration.co.uk. You can also check your existing registration here."

Organisers also warned those using registrations from before 2010 that they will need to re-register.

"Photo technology has improved significantly in recent years," the spokesman said.

"In order to maintain the quality of registration photos on tickets, any registrations submitted prior to 2010 have been deleted.

"All registrants affected have already been contacted via email. Anyone with a registration submitted prior to 2010 will need to re-register, for free, before they can purchase tickets for the 2016 festival (unless they already have a valid registration from a later year)."
