PEBBLES Hypnotherapy owner Helen Breward is enjoying the flush of success after being featured in the October issue of a national magazine.

Helen’s successful trial of her self-hypnosis programme for women beset with menopausal hot flushes and night sweats reached the ear of Spirit & Destiny magazine’s editor, who was keen to share the story.

Hot flushes are a particularly unpleasant aspect of the menopause for many women and are often debilitating, disturbing sleep and daily life to a considerable extent.

Following a hysterectomy in 2012 Helen came to consider ways of managing these symptoms and as a fully qualified clinical hypnotherapist, she set about devising a self-help programme for herself and other women in the same position.

“My intention was to see if it were possible for ladies to turn down the heat of a hot flush and make it easier to cope with,” said Helen.

“After all, it’s perfectly possible to control pain with hypnosis so why not hot flushes?”

Having created the self-hypnosis programme, Helen tested it out on a trial group of menopausal women with the results far exceeding her expectations.

Helen said: "85 per cent of the ladies involved were able to reduce not only the heat, but also the number of hot flushes they were experiencing in a day.”

Helen contacted Spirit & Destiny magazine to gauge interest in what she was doing, and the editor arranged for Helen to meet with them in London and work with Kate, a lady experiencing severe problems with hot flushes.

On the newsagent’s shelves now, the current issue of Spirit and Destiny magazine shares the story of the relief Helen’s techniques brought to Kate from this menopause scourge after only one session, despite the full course is four sessions.
