A MOTORCYCLIST from Swindon remains in a serious but stable condition at Southmead Hospital after colliding with a people carrier on Saturday evening.

The 25-year-old had been riding along Bramble Road, close to the Freedog Urban Activity Centre, when he was in collision with an Opal MPV.

Emergency services attended the scene and the motorcyclist was taken to Great Western Hospital before being transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol due to the severity of the injuries.

The rider is now in a stable condition, and the driver of the people carrier, a 57-year-old man from Swindon, was uninjured.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We got the call at 6.40pm to reports of a collision involving a motorbike and a car.

“We responded with one rapid response vehicle and one ambulance crew to one male patient who has sustained serious injuries and he was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

“It would appear from his injuries he is in a serious condition.”

The road was closed for around five hours while collision investigators conducted their enquiries.

Police continue to appeal for any witnesses to the crash, which involved a blue Honda motorcycle and the blue Opal MPV.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At about 6.42pm on Saturday, September 19, a two-vehicle road traffic collision occurred along Bramble Road Swindon outside the Freedog Urban Activity Centre.

This collision involved a blue Honda motorcycle and a blue Opal MPV.

“The motorcyclist, a 25-year-old man from Swindon, was seriously injured as a result of the collision.

He was initially taken to the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, and then transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol. The driver of the Opal, a 57-year-old man from Swindon, was uninjured.

“Police officers from the Triforce Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene, which remained closed for around five hours whilst an investigation was carried out.

“We would like to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet come forward who saw the collision, or the vehicles involved immediately before the collision.
