SWINDON and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership (SWLEP) staff will sleep rough on Byte Night to raise money for Action for Children.

SWLEP director Isobel Brown and SWLEP programme manager Ian Durston will be joined by Swindon Borough Council staff Sally Burnett and Philippa Venables, Claire Alexander from Corsham Institute, Melanie Durston from Ecotricity, Maria Thomas from the Shaw Trust, Alison Edgar from Chippenham-based business Sales Solutions and Dave Houghton and Spencer Westwood from Box-based firm Aerian to take part in the sleep out.

As a group the team hope to raise £4,500 for the charity by sleeping rough alongside another team of fundraisers from Business West during the event, which will take place in Bristol on Friday, October 2.

Isobel said: “This is a real team effort and we are well on our way to reaching our fundraising target. I have taken part in this charity sleep-out event for the past 8 years and they are always fun, but can be tough by the time the small hours come around. It really gives you a small insight into the struggles faced by young people sleeping rough on our streets.”

Byte Night is an annual fundraising event organised by the Action for Children charity. Each year, hundreds of like-minded people from the business arena give up their beds for one night to help change the lives of vulnerable young people.
