THE family of popular Swindon musician Paul Griffiths have appealed for information on his whereabouts after he went missing in Bristol.

Paul, who is well-known to music fans in the town, was last seen at approximately 11.30am in the Stapleton area of Bristol on Tuesday.

The 60-year-old, of Clifton Street, is described as a white male with light grey and brown hair. He is approximately 5ft 7in tall.

“We think and hope that he will be trying to get back to Swindon,” his family said.

“We are extremely worried about him and want him home as soon as possible.”

Paul is most likely to either be in the Bristol or Swindon area and Avon & Somerset Police is asking people to look out for him.

Martin Jones, 57, of Goddard Avenue, is a long-standing friend of Mr Griffiths.

He said: “We are very concerned about Paul’s safety and his wellbeing.

“He has been suffering from anxiety and depression and it is worrying he hasn’t now been seen for more than 48 hours.

“There’s no clue whatsoever where he might have gone.

“He doesn’t know anyone in Bristol and there’s nobody else he could have gone to.

“Everyone is very distressed and concerned, but still hopefully Paul will come home.”

Paul first shot to national fame with Widdicombe Fair on TV talent show Opportunity Knocks, but the band was just one of a number of groups he has performed with.

He has also played with the likes of Stadium Dogs, named after the greyhounds at Blunsdon, as well as Kingstrut in more recent years.

Arguably Paul’s most successful period actually occurred on the continent in Italy, where he performed with Cube, which won him huge chart success.

“He is very enthusiastic when it comes to music and enthusiastic about bringing music to other people,” said Martin.

“He is very keen to get people involved in other music and has done some work with Sixth Sense in the past for the children there.”

Anyone with any information on Paul’s whereabouts should contact Avon & Somerset Police on 101 and quote missing person number 5215007574.
