VOLUNTEERS with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Swindon community reserves have won the organisation's Team of the Year award.

On Saturday the team received the award at a ceremony celebrating the hard work and dedicationof volunteers across the county.

Derek Gard, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust volunteer manager, said: “Of course, massive congratulations go out to all those who were nominated this year; our judges said the standard of entrants was higher than ever."

“We have over 1,000 volunteers from all walks of life who love getting involved in every aspect of our work and without them the trust wouldn’t be able to achieve the work that it does.”

This year, There were five awards up for grabs including volunteer of the year, young volunteer of the year, volunteer lifetime achievement award, volunteer leader of the year, and volunteer team of the year.

Milly Carmichael, who won the award for volunteer of the year, said: "Working with the young people on the Trusts Youth Wellbeing Project is always a joy. I learn so much from them and seeing the difference that the natural environment makes to their lives is so encouraging. I was very grateful to have been nominated and to have been told I’d won – I was surprised and moved."
