A BRAVE autobiography detailing the years of domestic abuse she received will be released by the mother of X Factor star Jahmene Douglas next week.

Mandy Thomas has in the past spoken at great length about her experiences of being in an abusive relationship and has shared her story in her book.

The book, You Can't Run: The terrifying true story of a young woman trapped in a violent relationship, is due out next Thursday and is already available to buy on pre-order.

Mandy has been described as the survivor of one of the country's worst cases of domestic abuse.

Mandy and her son Jahmene will appear on ITV's Lorraine next week to publicise its launch.

The 2012 X Factor finalist said: "It's an autobiography of her life since meeting my father. It's quite in-depth and it's a hard read, but we hope it's going to be useful for people experiencing it and inspire them to leave the situation.

"It's a really honest selection of memories"

"It can start from being something verbal, but then there comes the first slap. This account shows it can start from something small and doesn't need to be something big straight away."

The 24-year-old singer has always admired the bravery of his mother.

"She has had to go back through some horrific memories for this book," he said.

The former Asda employee is to join his mum for her book at the Orbital Shopping Park superstore and New College, but dates are yet to be confirmed.

He is currently promoting his latest single 'Down for Love'
