A DECADE and a half of supplying the latest urban equipment to daring skaters and boarders was marked on Saturday with a big birthday bash.

The event, which saw ATBShop mark 15 years in business celebrated the big day by unveiling its newly redesigned indoor skate park.

They also enjoyed a range of different activities throughout the day to mark the occasion.

Diana Kirk, of ATBShop, said: “In 2000, ATBShop was set up just as the internet was in its infancy, in a bedroom in Greenmeadow, and since then the shop’s outgrown three premises and we’ve added an extra shop and indoor skatepark into our warehouse in Hawksworth Industrial Estate.

“Our Party in the Park had loads happening, including amazing in-store offers, prizes and giveaways plus the winners of the pair of tickets you give away benefited from a free BBQ, homemade popcorn, fresh candy floss and Domino’s Pizza, they could test their gaming skills on the BIOS Games Station, experience the bouncy castle and surf simulator thanks to Sky’s the Limit Entertainment, whip up their own smoothie on the Urban Smoothie Bike, get creative with the graffiti workshop, smile and pose in the photo booth and have their face painted.”

Along with demonstrations from the Grit Scooters pro scooter team those who were lucky enough to secure tickets to the birthday party enjoyed the surf simulator, an urban smoothie bike and a graffiti workshop.

There were also plenty of opportunities for skaters to try out the newly revamped indoor skatepark, which first opened in 2012 as Swindon’s only indoor facility.

This event was supported by VW Commercial Vehicles, Swindon.

Diana said: “There’s an obvious connection between the sports we sell and their camper vans. Their VW vans are used by so many of our customers, whether they are a kite surfer using a VW camper for a beach trip or a skateboarder or snowboarder using their van to head to their favourite spot.”

The day also saw fundraising opportunities for Prospect Hospice.
