A NORTH Swindon man who had been given an anti-social behaviour order for annoying his neighbours was back in court this week for shooting a teenage girl in the arm with a BB gun.

Kevin Clarke of Eyre Close, Haydon End admitted to the judge at Swindon County Court yesterday that he had taken a pot shot at a 14-year-old girl in the street and that he had deliberately aimed his gun at the girl, who he was banned from having contact with, and then shot her in the arm.

The courts had given Clarke an anti-social behaviour order in June this year in a bid to stop a campaign of threatening behaviour towards his neighbours.

Under the terms of the order, he was prohibited from being abusive, behaving aggressively around his home, or causing harassment, alarm or distress to North Swindon residents.

But the order failed to deter Clarke, who also confessed to a string of other fire-arm related offences in court including shooting at a neighbour’s satellites dishes and allowing a friend to wield the gun and shoot it into in the street.

Clarke was placed on unconditional bail and will appear back in court on Tuesday, October 20, for sentencing. He was warned due to the severity of the offence he may face a custodial sentence.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “A North Swindon man who was ordered by the courts to stop being anti-social to his neighbours has admitted in court that he shot a 14 year old girl in the street with a BB gun.

“Kevin John Clarke, 34, from Haydon End, also admitted under oath that he had also shot at one of his neighbour's satellite dishes, and also allowed a friend of his to use his BB gun to shoot into the street.

“Mr Clarke was given a court injunction (ASBO) in June 2015 preventing him from being abusive, engaging in threatening behaviour around his home, or causing harassment, alarm or distress to anyone in the North Swindon area.

“He admitted to the judge he had pointed the gun at a girl he had been told to have no contact with, fired it and shot her in the arm causing pain and distress.

“Mr Clarke will appear back in court on October 20 for sentencing.”
