ONE of the most important jobs tomorrow in order to avoid any disasters will be to direct runners to the toilets at the race, and SEQOL have dug out a physiotherapist for the job.

Ashleigh Parker, 30, works out of SEQOL’s Swindon Intermediate Care Centre at Great Western Hospital.

The Elmswood Close resident will be at the information stand in the race village tomorrow pointing everyone in the right direction and also championing SEQOL Community Foundation, the race organisers.

“SEQOL was keen for volunteers and I thought it was a nice thing to get involved in and support the community,” she said.

“It is an easy, organised opportunity to get involved with.”

This, however, will not be Ashleigh’s first taste of the raceday experience, after previous volunteering work with sports events in South Africa where she lived from the age of three.

The Zimbabwe-born woman eventually moved to the UK in 2008 amidst some time spent travelling around the world.

She is keen to do her part in one of Swindon’s most talked about community events.

“I just want to see it, enjoy the vibes, see lots of people enjoy themselves and partake in the community spirit,” she said.
