A TERRIFIED Swindon man fearing a violent attack handed over his wallet containing bank cards and cash during a robbery on Thursday night.

The 32-year-old was at the junction of Faringdon Road and Cambria Bridge Road at around 11pm when he was approached by three other men.

They told to give them money and, concerned the incident could turn violent, the victim complied with their demands.

The three suspects are described as white and all around 25 years old. One had short spikey hair. One of them was wearing a cream coloured jacket/sweater, the other two wearing black jackets.

Wiltshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery and while they have offered reassurance that crimes of this nature are rare, they warn people to take precautions to stay safe.

Detective Constable Lisa O'Donoghue said: "We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the suspects or incident take place.

"I would like to reassure members of the public that incidents like this are rare, but people should be vigilant especially after hours of darkness. Try to stay in groups, in well lit areas and report any suspicious behaviour to the police straight away.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call DC O'Donoghue at Swindon CID on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
