RENOWNED local musical figures have being speaking of their friendship with missing Paul Griffiths in the hope of keeping public interest in the search for him.

The 60-year-old from Clifton Street was last seen on September 29 in Bristol and despite a large scale search for him there have been no sightings.

Mr Griffiths is a well-known musician around the town and now some of those who he has played and performed with over the years have spoken out about how they hope to do so again in the near future.

Among them is blues guitarist Swindon’s Josh Kumra, who has toured Europe with bands such as One Republic.

He said: “I recently had the pleasure of meeting Paul when he kindly offered to help master some songs I had been working on with a mutual friend.

“Paul’s name kept getting mentioned as someone with tonnes of passion for music and even more experience so I was delighted to finally work with him.

“The last time I saw Paul was when we were celebrating in the pub after finishing recording, I remember it well as he gave me a whopping on the pool table.

"I really hope that everyone’s efforts to find Paul will pay off as he is a lovely guy and invaluable to the music scene in Swindon, He also owes me a rematch.”

Also keen to see Mr Griffiths again is blues guitarist Bob Bowles, who says he loves Paul like a brother and is eager to see him again.

“Paul has a pitch perfect voice and can sing great harmonies and writes some great catchy songs,” he said.

“A great individual guitarist, influenced so much from his Jazz guitarist dad, playing chords I'd never seen before.

"We worked and recored recently over a long period, creating a six-track EP, three songs each, and he was so enthusiastic, always gives his best and is very complimentary to my playing.

“A brilliant mimic too, a fun character and good friend.”

Another good friend of Mr Griffiths is Swindon’s ‘Mr Music’ Pete Cousins, who played in the same band as him back in the 1970s.

“Since then, although we’ve never actually played together in the same band again as of yet, we’re always collaborating on one or two, or more, recording projects of one thing or another,” said Pete.

“The joy of these is that, as there’s no band to consider, we can go wherever we want to with them. Looking forward to doing so again before too long.”

Mr Griffiths has light grey and brown hair. He is about 5ft 7in tall.
