THE INK is still fresh on beneficiaries’ cheques but the organisers of Swindon's Charity Ball are already looking for new causes to support next year.

Last month, Upland Educational Trust, Swindon NSPCC, Headway Swindon and District, Clivey and Twist and the Great Western Hospital’s charity Brighter Futures were awarded a share of £27,000 as part of the annual fundraising event.

The cheque presentation followed a hugely successful ball at the Marriott Hotel in May.

Now the committee is calling for new charities and support groups to apply for funding for specific projects.

“It is the largest charity ball in the town and it is there to benefit anyone who needs it,” said Tim Hanley, chairman of the Charity Ball committee.

“That’s what makes it so special.

“We hope to have all the applications in by the middle of November so we can pick all the beneficiaries.”

Over the past 27 years, the Charity Ball has raised nearly £700,000 for local causes with donations ranging from £1,000 to £49,000.

The Charity Ball only supports projects - the committee will not consider applications for funds towards running costs.
